Finding the Best Dog Food

I love dogs so much; I actually own a Great Dane and two Caucasian Ovcharkas. The Ovcharkas are two of the biggest dogs that you will find anywhere. They are used to hunt down bears. These dogs are also blessed with an appetite as big as themselves.

I am so glad that am able to share this knowledge with you today. This is just a guide that will point you in the right direction. In this one, I will tell you what you can do to ensure that the dog food you are getting for your beloved pets is the best because that is what they deserve.

How Old and Active Is Your Pet

The dogs will eat better if you know how old they are and how active they are. That will be the guide that will lead you to the right place. I live on a farm and the dogs have lots of room to run. The two Ovcharkas will run across the four mile long fields as I follow on a horse.

They consume food with a lot of calories and I take care not to get the overweight because I love them looking all sprightly and fit.

Finding the Best Dog Food

Know the Nutrition Levels

When you are feeding your dogs, you need to know that they will need to have only food that is enough for them. Over indulgence leads to overweight problems that you will find kind of difficult to deal with. A healthy dog’s ribs can be felt easily with the palm of your hand when you touch its belly and if it runs properly, you are okay.

Vet’s Advice about Diet

The veterinarian will help you with the details that go into having a scheduled and proper diet for your dog that will enable them to have the best diet. This will in turn have an effect on the way that they will grow up, how they will respond to diseases and other things that are directly related to diet and its properness.

Research

Before you rush to the store to buy the dog food that you saw on a pamphlet or a billboard somewhere, you will need to do some research all on your own to be able to determine the things that you really need.

Advertisements are not all truth. They lie sometimes. So be careful what you feed your dog.

  • The ingredient list on the label will not tell you the quality of the ingredients or where they came from, and some manufacturers split up the ingredients to make the distribution more equal. For instance, different types of corn, such as flaked corn, ground corn, or kibbled corn, can be listed separately. This bumps corn down on the list of ingredients, even though the actual content of corn in the food is high. Meat is another tricky ingredient. Whole meats contain a large percentage of water weight, which means that the overall percentage of meat after processing is lower than it appears..

  • Dogs require a wide range of nutrients in different quantities over the course of their lives. The nutritional needs of a puppy are different from an adult dog, which is why it is a good idea to feed a puppy formula or an “all life stages” food to your young dog.

  • A good dog food will contain meat, vegetables, grains, and fruits. The best dog foods contain high-quality versions of these ingredients that are appropriate for your dog’s digestive system.
